The breakdown of an old development cycle and the signs of a new economic growth model represent a turning point in the history of the State of Bahia. However, the main characteristics of this new industrialization cycle are not yet clearly delineated. Although some industrial expansion axis could be identified, as well as some specific investment attraction policies, there seems to be more doubts than convictions concerning this new model. The purpose of the present paper is to discuss this new arrangement. It argues that, not only does the attraction of new investments consolidate the earlier expansion phase of the local economy, but also allows the redefinition of its sectorial and geographical configuration. Both sectorial and geographical aspects are focused in this paper so that the concentration / deconcentration trends can be analyzed
