Studies using money expressed regional aggregates in Brazil have to use a national price index to set them in real terms, for there are no regional price indexes to use. Thus, regional comparisons of cost of living, for example, do not take into consideration the specific characteristics of those regions in terms of their baskets of goods, prices evolution etc. The objective of this paper is to present a multilateral transitive price index, to measure the differential in the cost of living levels for different Brazilian regions. Those indexes are utilized to calculate regional per capita income in real terms. The modified Theil index is utilized for comparing the regional dispersion of per capita income in Brazil both in regional-nominal and regional-real terms.
