Abstract

The purpose of this article is to analyze the impact of the Disarmament Statute on crime rates in the state of São Paulo. With data from the São Paulo State Public Security Secretariat (SSP-SP), the intervention analysis methodology was used to identify the effect of the Disarmament Statute on historical time series of crimes. Some of the results found were divergent, depending on the location and the type of crime considered.
