Abstract

Human beings as individuals have their own characteristics  that make them belong to a certain social group  characteristic of a certain territory. In view of this, the article aims to characterize the socioeconomic and dietary profile of organic family farmers involved in the research, highlighting the public policies adopted by them, with regard to the issue of food and nutritional security. The research was carried out using a semi-structured form composed of 16 questions, about income, education, gender, social organization, food and public policies, with the following results: a) the majority with a representation of 55% has/is in primary education, b) in relation to gender, it was identified that the majority of the public has male representation, with 53%; c) in relation to income, 38% receive up to 2 minimum wages, of those who receive social benefits, 38% receive Bolsa Família and 25% retire; d) while public policies apply, farmers have access to the Food Acquisition Program and the National School Feeding Program. It is concluded that participation in the association contributed to family income and the promotion of food and nutritional security through the strengthening of family groups in marketing spaces and positive changes in eating habits.
