Abstract

Even with the reduction of gender inequalities, differences still persist that make women more vulnerable to poverty. In this sense, the present work proposed, using data from 2019 and 2020 from the National Household Sample Survey Continua (PNADC), to investigate the occurrence of the feminization of poverty in Brazil through the analysis of multiple deprivations and understand how this phenomenon behaved. through the shock of the COVID-19 pandemic. The results of the estimates carried out indicate that families in which the woman is the head, compared to families headed by a man, are more likely to be in a vulnerable condition. Furthermore, this effect is even greater in the year that marks the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic in Brazil, for most of the aspects considered in this work.
