This paper analyzed the sociopolitical and environmental-production conjuncture of family farming in the Territory of Sisal, in the state of Bahia. To achieve this objective, data from the 2017 Agricultural Census from IBGE were extracted and systematized, to identify, characterize and present information related to the themes and categories established in the objective of this article. Thus, in addition to presenting an overview of family farming in an essentially rural region, we sought to consolidate a set of data that allows us to know this reality after the disclosure of the Census. The results reveal that there are still socioproductive limitations in family agriculture in the Territory, being reinforced by persistent poverty and unfavorable socioeconomic and agrarian trajectory, although it presents diversified agricultural and livestock activities, even developed on semi-aridity. Thus, the realities observed in conjunction with the literature review reveal the need to create endogenous strategies capable of boosting territorial resources aimed at strengthening sustainable agroecosystems. It is worth strengthening public investments and ATER, given the capacity of certain policies to stimulate family agriculture in the face of threats of food and nutritional insecurity, rural poverty, hegemonic capital and climate events that have pladed humanity in this century.
