Industrial hemp is a versatile cultivar that presents a strategic opportunity for Brazil. It is called the 'green gold' due to its agronomic characteristics and economic potential, offering sustainably derived high-value products. Despite its long history, the global and regional markets lack institutionalization. This study seeks to explore the formation of the global industrial hemp supply chain, focusing on its evolution in Brazil. The methodology consists of an extensive bibliographical review. The results suggest that recent legislation has favored fiber imports, in addition to prospects for legalization for production, medicinal, and industrial use, added to the vast Brazilian agricultural territory, indicating an important potential market to be explored.
