A region that has gained prominence in grain production is the agricultural frontier, called MATOPIBA (Maranhão, Tocantins, Piauí and Bahia), in which changes in land use can be observed, such as the replacement of less profitable crops by more profitable ones. profitable. Like all agricultural activities, grain production is subject to various risks due to adverse weather conditions. Thus, the present study aimed to identify the impacts of the substitution effect on the relative risk of loss of productivity in both corn and soybean crops, for the microregions of MATOPIBA, in the period from 2001 to 2020, using the shift methodology. share and coefficient of variation. The results demonstrate that soybeans had a greater substitution effect than corn crops, while corn crops had higher coefficients of variation than soybeans.Downloads
