Abstract

The purpose of this article is to describe the 18 years of performance of the Rural Microcredit Program of Banco do Nordeste, Agroamigo, as an inducer of socioeconomic transformations and improvement of life in rural areas. Topics such as the background to the implementation of the Program, information on the methodology adopted and the results obtained are addressed, among others. To achieve the objective, bibliographical research corroborated with the results of the Program is used. The study leads to the observation of the relevance of the methodology used for the development of family farming in the BNB’s area of operation, with emphasis on the Northeast region
