THE BILATERAL AGREEMENTS:
BRAZILIAN AGRIBUSINESS SIMULATION

This study evaluated the impacts on Brazilian agribusiness of possible formation of bilateral agreements. These agreements were simulated in the scenario of a 50% reduction in all import tariffs for goods and services between regions. The countries that make up these agreements are Brazil and Argentina, Brazil and United States, Brazil and China, Brazil and United Kingdom, Brazil and Germany, Brazil and Japan. For that,we used The Global Trade Analysis Project (GTAP) General Equilibrium model. The analyzes indicated that the bilateral agreements between Brazil and United States; Brazil and all proposed countries simultaneously; and, Brazil and China are the most favorable for the country in terms of Gross Domestic Product. The most benefited sectors of Brazilian agribusiness are rice, fiber harvesting, milk and wheat, instead of, sugar cane, vegetable and fruit, meat and processed food sectors.
