The present study aims at evaluating the spatial redistribution of the Brazilian soya bean complex, with special interest in the contribution of investments from private and government sectors. The importance of such investments for the production of soya bean in localized poles and their areas of influence was identified and analyzed. Furthermore, the importance of intermodality in the process of spreading out the production was evaluated. The method used was based on using seven soya bean productive poles, located in different states, in order to provide a better view of the results. Data from each pole in particular were described on a detailed way, focusing aspects referring to spots of production (origins); the routes; the modal alternatives, the places of transboarding; road, train, and hydroplane freight; and, finally, shipping fares. It’s noted that there are concrete evidences which allow signaling to the direction of new plants and to the relocation of existing enterprises associated to soya bean SAG in the Midwest and Midnorth Brazilian regions (TO, MA and PA) provided by recent investments in the country’s infrastructure, mainly by the Harbors of Itaqui and Itacoatiara, implying in cargo detour form the traditional harbors in grain operation – Paranaguá and ...
