ESTRATÉGIAS PARA O DESENVOLVIMENTO DA AQÜICULTURA NO NORDESTE BRASILEIRO

Abstract

The objective of this work is to evaluate the strategy for future development of aquaculture in Northeast brasilian. The main outcome is to demonstrate that aquaculture is growing in Brazil because of the technology developments in the diferent regions. There is a large development potencial that can activated by the next millenium, if the Northeast commits itself to specified changes in behaviour and priorities. In order for these changes to occur, sustained action is needed in five areas: (a) Increased the number of species farmed; (b) accelerating aquicultural productivity; (c) investing more in research (d) assuring sound management of natural resource (e) development competitive markets investing in production. These changes will lead to new orientations the development of aquaculture in Northeast.
