Abstract

 The paper points out some aspects that should be considered in a policy of science and technology for the Northeastern Region of Brazil. It emphasizes the need of an economic basis aimed at exports as a strategy to get the support of the technological development of the Region. It contradicts the idea of Northeast having a secondary role in the present industrial rules. It arques, on the contrary, that Northeast must work on a technologically advanced production
