TRANSPORTE E ARMAZENAGEM DE ARROZ NO MARANHÃO*

Abstract

The article analysed the cost effects of modifications in the transport and storage of rice distribution infrastructure in the state of Maranhão. A multiperiodic transportation storage model was used as analytical method. The main results indicate that: a) modifications in the highway network facilitating rice export to other states produced the greatest offects of total cost reduction of rice distribution; b) medium range stocks increases diminuished rice import and export, as a result, the total cost was reduced, causing also a deficit in the estatic storage capacity in some regions.
