this article evaluates the adoption of new technologies by the producers of caupi in Ceará state. For that, social and economic variables concerning to the producers, such as age, level of education, land ownership, are selected and hypotheses are put forward about the influence of these variables over the refusal or adoption of new technologies spread by research institutes. The producers' characteristics related with their class (small, middle or big producer), as well as the association degree and explanation power of considered variables are analysed. With the results of the conducted survey, it takes the hypotheses again to come to its conclusions.
