Abstract

Minor metals as a group of Independent mineral com modities do not seem to have received the necessary attention in terms of economic analysis. Their importance is undisputable in today's industrial environment, simply because they are cruclal inputs for virtually all components utilised in assembling high tech capital and consumer goods. An economic problem may normally be approached either by means of qualitative or quanitative analytical tools, or through both. This work can be considered as a qualitative study of the production and market structure for minor metals, observing their close geological and eco- nomic ties with the non-ferrous industry. The metals here considered as minor are a quite diverse group of metallic elements. Notwithstanding this, mino metals have one very important point in common: they are either non ferrous metals or derive from them in joint production as by products and co products. The observation and analysis of this fact from an economic stand- point constitutes the core of the present study...
