Abstract

It was written for the purpose of identify the reasons that determined the plaige of investments in the industry of cotton seed oil which happened in Ceará from 1919 to 1925. The conclusions show that this plaige coincide with the investments realized in this kind of industry in all the rest of the country, happened because of the legislation which was aproved since 1918, with the objective of conceding favours and privileges to the investers, and also because of the fantastic expansion of the cotton in Ceará since 1919. This expansion, of course, brought positive consequences to the economy of our state.
