Abstract

This article summarizes the results of a research. concerning the textile industry in the state of Ceará, Brazil It tries to evaluate the industry's competitive power today as well as its perspectives for the coming years. The analysis was done by using the available official statistical data, interviews and questionnaires with directors of some chosen enterprises. These procedure led us to present a picture that shows the recent situation of the sector, mainly in respect to the technical production conditions, human resources, financial and commercial aspects. as well as its debilities and possibilities of consolidation.
