Abstract

Using input-output analysis this paper presents for 1975, 1980, 1985, 1992 and 1995 a comparative analysis of the Sugar and Alcohol sectors for the Brazil. As corollary, it was verified that the Sugar and the Alcohol sectors present low contribution for the other sections of the economy. As insight of this study, the inclusion of another two years, 1992 and 1995 (that modernizes the papers made for this section) allows, in terms of sectors multipliers and effect of the variations in the final demand, the consistency of the results obtained with the reality in this sectors, the sugar cane industry has been affected by the favorable behavior of the sugar market and unfavorable in terms of alcohol market; however, in 1975 and 1980, the scenery was of structuring of the alcohol combustible in Brazilian matrix energetics and of crisis of the sugar economy.
