Abstract

The work analyzes, using the model shift-share, the process of substitution of cultures ocurred in the Brazilian agriculture, in the period from 1975 to 1995. Between 1975 and 1985, it was verified, mainly, the substitution of (pasture, herbage, grass), arboreal cotton and rice for soy and sugar-cane, besides bean and coffee. Between 1985-95, soy, (pasture, herbage, grass), corn and sugar-cane substituted wheat, arboreal cotton, herbaceous cotton and rice, besides coffee, bean and mamona. Those changes reflect the presence of technological disparities among products, as well as the differences of its prices, in terms of the value and the pattern of instability presented.
