In the current context of the pandemic generated by Covid-19-19, which directly affects people’s health and the economy of countries, governments had the need to implement decrees to promote distance and social isolation. As a result, establishments considered non-essential, such as restaurants and snack bars, had to close or change the way they operated. This boosted sales through delivery platforms. The objective of this work is to evaluate the possible economic effects of the pandemic in the food sector using the Differences in Differences (DD) model from the billing of establishments, considering automation through digital services for ordering and delivery in the food sector of Paraíba-Brazil. The results show that the digitization adapted by the establishments at the time of the pandemic helped to significantly reduce the negative effects on the establishments’ gross
